2015 saw the highest ever UK box office takings (£1.24 million), up 17% on 2014. As well as this, there was also a rise of 9% on cinema admissions to 171.9 million. Record audiences flocked to see highly anticipated blockbuster franchises, and home-grown British productions through the year including SPECTRE, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was made in studio not that far away over at Pinewood Studios as well as numerous other UK locations.
