The UK Film Industry 2014/2015
The UK film industry is thriving.
With international filmmakers from all reaches of the globe trusting their productions in the hands of home-grown UK talent, 2015 saw a huge rise in the number of international productions taking place within the United Kingdom, with blockbusters such as: Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Spectre, and Pan all being made on British soil. This rise has also led to a growth in jobs within the industry.
Alongside this rise in international productions, the UK’s own productions have also stood strong. 2015 saw 74 home-grown films released with budgets of £500,000 and above. Just some of these titles included: Suffragette, Paddington, High Rise, Shaun the Sheep, Testament of Youth, and London Road.
